This month’s Build a Garden – Dancing Poppies set is gorgeous. I love everything about these poppies. I used Pinkalicious, Pink Diamond, Olive and Parrot Crisp Dye Inks to ink blend the gold heat embossed floral images. I used my Pink Diamond first to ink blend the entire blossom then added some Pinkalicious at the center or base to add some dimension to the flowers. I then inked the stem and leaves with Parrot and Olive Crisp Dye Inks.

After die cutting the poppies with the coordinating dies, I die cut 3 additional white of each flower. I used liquid adhesive to stack these up. I used the gold from the 14 Pan Metallic Watercolor Set to splatter the white background panel. I trimmed this down and mounted it with Instant dimension foam tape to a piece of Brushed Gold Cardstock.

I ink blended a piece of white cardstock using Pinkalicious Crisp Dye ink then die cut Hello using the Sweet Sentiments Die Set and again 3 more times from white cardstock. I adhered these together with liquid adhesive. I die cut the shadow from Brushed Gold Cardstock and mounted the Hello to it. I love ink blending cardstock to create colored cardstock that perfectly matches my project.

Using Obsidian Ink I stamped a sentiment from Sentiment Strips Stamp Set and die cut this using the Featured Sentiments Die Set. I like to use the Mini Blossom to die cut these smaller dies. It fits perfect on my work table.

I adhered my poppies, sentiment and sub sentiment to my background panel. This was then adhered to my mini slimline card base. To finish I added a sprinkling of Cherry Blossom Enamel Dots.

Next up on the blog hop is the very talented Erum Tanseem.

  1. Wow April! It’s lovely! I never thought to use inked cardstock with a gold shadow layer for the sentiment. Thanks!

  2. Just when I think I’ve picked a favorite set out this bundle, I get to your page with the Dancing Poppies. You certainly inspired me to use this set! How lovely, your instructions are intricate and easy to follow as well! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

  3. Hi April. Your card is so unique. I like ideas with slimline cards. I love that you used pink for the poppies instead of the traditional red. The brushed gold metallic card stock is a nice touch. I look forward to seeing your next card.
