October Inspiration Challenge – Altenew

Hi Crafty Friends! I have found that a great way to spark my creativity is to participate in a challenge. The parameters of colors, theme, products, design, etc. can sometimes be difficult and has been for me in the past. However, I am finding that lately these challenges really gets my creativity flowing. I so much enjoyed participating last month in Altenew’s Inspiration Challenge I decided to do this on a monthly basis. Please check out the October Inspiration Challenge and I hope you join in on the fun.

One of my favorite products from Altenew is the Hello Beautiful: Craft Your Life Kit. The floral images are very eye catching and as always the stamp set has wonderful sentiments and sub sentiments.

Supplies Used:

I never put the 3 colors for this challenge together intentionally so it was fun to pull out some ink pads and cardstock in these colors and think about how I wanted to use them. The idea came right as I was drifting off to sleep this same day and I quickly grabbed a post it note and made a quick sketch for the next day. I do sketch lots of ideas for cards but not all come out as I envisioned, but this card is exactly what I pictured.

  • I began by cutting my cardstocks into strips. The Lucky Clover is cut to 1×5.5″, Blush is .5×5.5″ and the Beeswax is .25×5.5″. I adhered this together layering them and stacking them on the right side of the Lucky Clover piece.
  • Next, I die cut my Fancy Hello one time from each color and I adhered those to be the same as the cardstock strip (Lucky CloverBlush then Beeswax). I also offset these slightly so you can see all three colors. I love this look and I don’t think to do it often enough. It makes your word dies more versatile as it gives a little different look. Make sure to give this a try.
  • After I finished ink blending this image, I used the coordinating die to cut out the flower image.
  • I used a 4.25×5.5 piece of white cardstock and used Jet Black Ink Spray and a paint brush to splatter some ink onto the white panel.
  • Make sure the splatters are dry so you do not smear any of the ink splatters.
  • Then I adhered the layered cardstock strip to the left side of the panel.
  • Then under where I planned to place my “Hello,” I stamped my sub sentiment which is from the Hello Beautiful Stamp Set. I used Obsidian Black Ink to do this and let it dry completely before finishing my card.
  • I adhered the “Hello” in place.
  • Using Instant Dimension Foam Tape on the back of the floral image, I adhered it to my card.
  • Then I cut off any overhanging bits of the leaves and attached the entire panel to a top folding heavy weight card base.

I hope you give this Inspiration Challenge a try and see if it helps you get creative. Thank you for stopping by!!
