Hi crafty friends! Fall is my favorite season. I love all the colors especially those of Halloween plus the cute images. Welcome, to those that came here from the Pear Blossom Press Blog. Make sure to sign up to receive an email whenever I put up a new blog post. Today, I have a fun card using two light systems from Pear Blossom Press – an EZ Light and a Halo Light. This allows for even more light and fun on a card.
ALL SUPPLIES ARE LISTED BELOW!
- Make background panel by running the Tangled Web Embossing Folder from Honey Bee Stamps through a die cut machine with an A2 panel of white cardstock.
- Go direct to paper with Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks. Start with Tumbled Glass in a circle where the circle will be cut for the moon. This creates a slight glow to the moon.
- Work outward with the darker colors ending with Black Soot around the edges of the panel. Oxides blend very well together with any method.
- Spatter with water so the Oxide Inks reactive and leave some spots on the background.
- Once dry, spatter with Hocus Pocus and Empty Tomb Distress Mica Sprays.
- Cut circle for moon using a Nesting Circle Die that is close to the size of the inside of the Halo Light.
- Run panel through the embossing folder once more to enhance the design.
- Use pencil and lightly draw circle for the moon on another panel of white cardstock. Use the Tangled Web panel for exact placement.
- Use Moon Mask with Antique Linen and Scattered Straw Distress Oxide Inks to create a moon.
- Prep Moon with Anti Static Powder, then heat emboss sentiments from Honey Bee Stamps Sweet Halloween Stamp Set using black ink and clear embossing powder.
- Next, die cut pumpkin and bat pieces from Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers Scaredy Cat Die Set out of Hammermill cardstock (my preferred cardstock for Olo Markers). Color with Olo Alcohol Ink Markers. Pumpkins: OR 2.3, 2.5, 2.6 C-G 5, 7, 9 Stems: G 1.7, YG 1.4, 1.6 Bat: V 2.3, 2.4, 2.6, 2.7 Bat Ears: R 2.2, 5.1
- Use Vellum-Translucent White colored with Y 2.3 and YO 2.3 for behind the face of the pumpkins.
- With glue apply Rock Candy Glitter to bat wings and body. Then adhere all bat pieces together. Use black glaze pen on eyes and mouth.
- Assemble pumpkins. Apply Glossy Accents to pumpkins and set aside to dry completely.
- Use a piece of thin chipboard from packaging to put on back of background panel where the two ON buttons for the EZ Light and Halo Light will be placed. Adhere with glue.
- After adding batteries to both light systems, place the Halo Light in place leaving room on the chipboard for the EZ Light ON button. Use small foam squares around Halo Light to hold in place.
- Place EZ Light ON button and battery pack right next to Halo Light ON button. Use a little double sided tape to hold in place. Tape down wires from EZ Light system.
- Determine where pumpkins will go and use a 1/8th hole punch to punch a hole in the background panel in the area underneath the area between the eyes of each pumpkin.
- Tape lights in place on back of panel. Place two lights in hole for one pumpkin and one for the other pumpkin.
- Add World’s Greatest Foam Tape around battery packs and Halo Light to hold securely in place then around the rest of the panel.
- Adhere bat directly to card and pop pumpkins up over lights using thin foam squares.
- Add thin strip of black cardstock below pumpkins to give them something to sit on.
- Heat emboss large asterisk from PB Press Stamp and Die Bundle with black ink and clear embossing powder.
- Die cut with circle die from PB Press Stamp and Die Bundle. Adhere over ON buttons for light systems.
- Remove release tape and adhere panel over panel with moon on it.
- Add a sprinkling of black pearls, then adhere to a top folding heavy weight card base.
Please Note: You will need to press a little harder to get both light systems to turn on. I should have placed a double layer of the thin chipboard over where the EZ Light ON button went. I found a slight height difference in the two buttons and systems. I decided to leave as is as it works fine but I will add the extra layer next time.
This was a new technique for me and I learned a lot but in the end it works great and looks fabulous. I hope you are inspired to try a card using two light systems. I had so much fun. Please make sure to go see all the inspiration on the Pear Blossom Press Blog.
Thank you for stopping by and see you next time!
