Hi Crafty Friends! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Ours has went by way too quickly. I love creating backgrounds and embossed resist always creates a fun background. I used Tumbled Glass Spray Stain for my resist technique. Creative Worship Stamps has a wonderful NEW August Release. I used two of their NEW stamp sets for this card.
ALL SUPPLIES ARE LISTED BELOW!
- Heat emboss Funky Textures 2 image with white embossing powder on Mixed Media Cardstock. Spray with Tumbled Glass Spray Stain and spritz with water from spray bottle, then heat set. Add one more layer of Tumbled Glass Spray Stain, spray with water, and heat set. This is the embossed resist technique
- Spatter with Unchartered Mariner Distress Spritz. Let dry completely.
- Trim to 4×5.25″ and distress edges with edge of scissors or distress tool.
- Stamp bird from More Than Sparrows Stamp Set with black ink on Distress Watercolor Cardstock then heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
- Use Distress Ink Refills in Unchartered Mariner, Squeezed Lemonade, and Tumbled Glass plus Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink (I didn’t have the refill and this works just as well) to watercolor the bird image. Apply Unchartered Mariner Distress Spritz over Unchartered Mariner Distress Ink on the birds head, wing and tail with paint brush.
- Fussy cut bird out or use Scan N Cut.
- Add Unchartered Mariner Distress Ink around edge of white cardstock panel. Only need about 1/4″ on all edges. Once dry add Unchartered Mariner Distress Spritz over edges on this panel. Adhere embossed resist background panel to this.
- Stamp sentiment from More Than Sparrows Stamp Set with black ink and clear embossing powder on vellum. Trim this down and add a smaller white strip of cardstock behind the sentiment. This helps it pop out better against the background. Pop this sentiment strip up with small foam squares.
- Using DMC Silver Grande Thread add a bunch of thread above the sentiment. Adhere bird to this thread with foam squares.
- Add a few Stargazer Jewels from Pink Fresh Studio for a little bling. Adhere entire panel to top folding heavy weight card base.
I love this sweet blue and yellow bird. He looks so good on this embossed resist background panel. I hope this inspires you to try an embossed resist background. I love using Distress Spray Stains and Oxide Sprays for this technique, but you can use an ink pad to ink blend with or you can even ink smoosh. Lots of possibilities. Thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you next time!
Happy crafting! April
