Arched Window with EZ Light – Pear Blossom Press

Hi Crafty Friends! I hope everyone is enjoying summer. If you came here from the Pear Blossom Press Blog – Welcome. I am glad to have you, and please make sure to sign up to be notified when I put a new blog post up. Today, I have a beautiful card where the window lights up. It is like looking into a cottage at night. I used stamps, dies and stencils from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps to make this fabulous card.

ALL SUPPLIES ARE LISTED BELOW!!

I created my background panel using some Mixed Media Cardstock from Scrapbook.com. I love this cardstock when working with Distress inks and sprays to create different backgrounds. I used Antique Linen Distress Spray Stain for this background panel. After I sprayed on some Antique Linen, I used a spray bottle to add plenty of water. Then I dried the panel and used my hands to flick on water droplets. I did this 3 times drying in between. To finish the panel I spattered on some spray stain for more dimension and interest. After the panel dried completely, I cut the panel down to 4×5.25″.

I then used the Arched Window Stencil from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps and traced the largest window so I could cut it out. This gave me a clean cut and will fit perfectly with my window when I place it on the card.

Next, I created the window. I used the Arched Window Die to die cut the image from a piece of Mixed Media Cardstock. I then popped the die out and grabbed a couple spray stains. I used Gathered Twigs and Tea Dye Distress Spray Stain to make my window look like a wood frame. I sprayed both browns on the window then sprayed with water to move the browns. After drying, I did this again to completely cover the frame. Once dried, I used my hand to flick water on the window frame to give it a weathered look. I let this completely dry.

While everything was drying, I heat embossed my flower and leaf images from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Sketched Florals Stamp Set several times on Distress Watercolor Cardstock with black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I used Distress Watercolor Pencils (Peeled Paint, Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy, Worn Lipstick) to watercolor the images. I then fussy cut all the images out.

Next, I used the Arched Window Stencil again to trace the window on Pear Blossom Press A2 Vellum – White. I cut this out and adhered it to the back of the window die cut. To light up my window, I used an EZ Light. I carefully placed the three lights to they were in different corners of the window frame and used thin strips of tape to secure the wires behind the frame. I made sure no tape or wires could be seen from the front.

The window was then adhered to the background panel over the opening I cut earlier. I love that by tracing the window using the stencil everything lined up and fit together perfectly. I flipped this over and decided where to place “PRESS” (PB Press Stamp and Die Bundle) on the front of my panel. I then stamped “PRESS” using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. Next, I placed the battery pack of the EZ Light and the on button directly under “PRESS” and secured all the wires out of the way of the window with tape. I then used World’s Greatest Foam Tape to secure the battery pack in place. I did have to cut thin pieces of the Foam Tape to place around the battery pack and behind the middle of the window frame.

I went direct to paper with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink to the edges of a piece of white A2 cardstock to create a frame for the card. I removed the release paper from the World’s Greatest Foam Tape from the background panel and placed in on the cardstock I just created for the frame. I double checked that all the lights worked as the Foam Tape gives you up to 30 minute to reposition it before it becomes permanent.

I arranged the flowers and leaves around the bottom and up one side of the window. I created a simple strip using the Simple Sentiments Stamp Set from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps (this was heat embossed). I went direct to paper again with the Gathered Twigs Distress Ink to create a layering piece for my sentiment strip. This has the window, the background frame piece and the sentiment all tying in together. I popped up the sentiment strip over my arrangement in one corner.

To finish the card, I added a sprinkling of some Gold Satin Baubles. The entire panel was adhered to a top folding heavy weight card base.

I really love how this turned out. I did fuss with where to place the sentiment strip for way too long but am so happy with where I ended up putting it. I love how the EZ Light creates a warm glow in the window. Make sure to check out the Pear Blossom Press Blog page, if you didn’t come from there. It is full of fabulous inspiration for interactive and light up cards. Thanks for stopping by and I will see you soon.

Happy crafting! April
