Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Hop

Their yearly Celebrating Parents Card Drive is from 2/28/2023 to 4/17/2023. They will also donate $1 with every order from this collection (from 2/28/2023 until 5/14/2023) to the Food Bank of Central New York to support seniors in need.

I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful hop and card drive. Even though I have had to say goodbye to both of my parents they are still two of the most important people in my life. With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day just around the corner it is hard for seniors in nursing homes or in shelters, so we want to make sure they feel loved and appreciated.

I made this purple Mom card using the Soft Blossoms Stamp Set and Simple Coloring Stencil Set. These flowers look gorgeous in purple. This is a color I do not reach for often enough. I used Crisp Dye Inks in Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Deep Iris, Firefly, Grass Field, and Shadow Creek to color in the gold embossed outline image from the Soft Blossoms Stamp Set.

I like to use my Mini Ink Blending brushes and blend softly to get a super smooth transition from one color to the other. This stencil set does not have layers so I got dimension by ink blending with my lightest colors and working to my darkest. I added a little black splatter for additional interest.

I used the Mighty Alphabet Die Set and die cut M O M using Brushed Gold Cardstock and 3 additional layers of white cardstock. I adhered these together with liquid glue. To line up my letters I use the grid on my work surface to make sure they are straight and evenly spaced. I then use a piece of Satin Masking Tape over the letters to hold them all together perfectly. I place glue on the back and adhere to the front of the card panel. I left the tape in place while my glue dried. Then carefully removed it and my letters were exactly where I wanted them.

Then, I stamped a sentiment from the Bold Sentiments Stamp Set using Obsidian Black Ink. I used my paper trimmer to trim this sentiment down before adhering it under Mom. After popping this panel up on a piece of purple cardstock with fun foam, I added 3 Satin Gold Sequins to my card. This was all adhered to a heavy weight cardbase.
